Teens for Jeans

Across three years, four collection locations, and with the help of more than fifty families, JDAL's Teens for Jeans campaign collected more than 400 pairs of jeans for local homeless teenagers in Green Bay.

In 2014, with a mere three months back in the Green Bay Area Public School District I saw a DoSomthing.org email, and I got an idea. With the permission and encouragement of my principal, with my guidance, John Dewey Academy of Learning became the first school in the Green Bay Area Public School District to participate in the Teens for Jeans Campaign. Over time, we gained a multitude of partners, including Kavarna Coffee House and the YWCA of Greater Green Bay.

In 2015, I successfully petitioned the Governor of the State of Wisconsin to issue a proclamation for Giving Tuesday, and earned official partner status with the national #GivingTuesday organazation.
